Writing A Job Resume That Stands Out
This is why your job resume is important: It is the first part of you a prospective employer will ever see. With the economy and unemployment being what they are these days, you will find yourself competing against plenty of applicants when searching for a job. Due to this, you must understand the ways by which you can make your job resume stand out. Of course, on the surface, it might seem like the only thing you can really do is list your previous jobs and hope for the best. But by taking this approach these days, you will be limiting yourself. Rather than doing this, you need to learn how to write a resume that stands out - one that causes a prospective employer to feel like they have to give you a call. The first thing to consider when writing your interview is the design. This might seem like an odd place to begin - after all, you are applying for a job, not applying to be a document designer - but you have to consider the prospective employer's perspective. The person reading your resume has likely been at their desk for hours, poring over a huge pile of resumes. In fact, studies have proven that the initial look a resume gets lasts about 15-20 seconds. If your resume is designed with big, blockish paragraphs, this will be uninviting to tired eyes. Instead, you should aim to design your resume in such a way that it sports clear headings and lots of white space. In this way, tired eyes are likely to feel pleased when your resume comes to the top; who knows, they may even spend more than 15-20 seconds on it during their first glance! The next step for setting you apart from other applicants is the section where you list your accomplishments and qualifications. Never fabricate this section, but make sure you dig deep to uncover things that might not have popped into your mind right away. If anything seems as though it might be useful to them in making a decision (especially a decision that will lead them closer to you), include it! Finally, your qualifications section will be extremely important in selling you to a prospective employer. Use this section to set yourself high above your competition - those faceless others who might be applying. You should think of this section as an advertisement, which you are using to display all the reasons why they should "buy" you.
