Knowing Where To Advertise On The Radio
Advertising is one of the most important ways by which you can turn your small business into a thriving, money-making machine. And even though radio advertising is one of the best ways to advertise, it can also be one of the most pointless ways if you do not know what you are doing. If you want to advertise successfully, one of the biggest things for "knowing what you are doing" is knowing your target market. There are plenty of resources for finding out which demographics listen to which stations, but this will not help you unless you first know who you should go after. For instance, you might think that advertising on a sports radio program is a good idea if you are a dentist who is wanting to advertise on the radio. After all, men come to see you just as often as women come to see you, and men listen to sports radio all the time! But once you start paying closer attention, you might find that you are actually better off advertising on one of the stations the women listen to, as it is often the women who are calling to make these appointments for the men.
You will also want to make sure you know how to appeal to the demographic you are targeting, even after you have narrowed it down. Too many people wonder why their ad is not effective at all - after they have made the ad on their own. But just as you are an expert at what you do, there are people who are experts at crafting radio ads that are both catchy and effective. You will be better off hiring out to such people and ensuring results than trying to take the radio advertising into your own hands! Finally, make sure the advertisements themselves are distributed by an actual ad agency, and not by someone in the back room at your place of business! Radio advertising can become a truly effective tool when you hire one such agency, as they will be able to track the number of times your ad was played, the times of day your ad was played, and the response.
